2021 North American Missionary Highlights

Shahid and Maroofa Kamal are church planting missionaries in the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia, Canada. Especially through the pandemic, they’ve seen many in Vancouver’s South Asian community open their hearts to the gospel as God has answered prayers. Pray that God will continue to open doors for the Kamals to help people know, believe and receive Jesus Christ.

Sixty percent of the homes in Dekalb County, Georgia, are fatherless. With a rapidly growing diverse community from nations all over the world, residents struggle with racial and socioeconomic tensions. But God is using church planting missionaries Ryan and Tricia McCammack to bring gospel hope and reconciliation. On this second day of our AAEO Week of Prayer, pray that God will encourage the McCammacks in this challenging work.

Missionaries Victor and Ludmila Moura had a comfortable life in Brazil until God called them to plant a church in the New England area of the United States. More than 450,000 Brazilians live there – and less than 3% have an active faith in Christ. Pray for the Mouras as they meet needs, build relationships and share the gospel with second and third generation Brazilians in their community.

For a long time in Nampa, Idaho, a lot of people have needed a new story – and Calvary Church Nampa needed one too. That’s why God brought replanting missionaries Anders and Jessica Snyder to the city – to help a dying church come back to life. So far, they’ve seen God grow their church from 20 original members to more than 100 people. Pray for the Snyders as they navigate shifting cultures and lead their church to go out into the community and share the love of Christ.

Missionary Joshua Valdez understands the struggles faced by many Hispanic and Navajo young people in Farmington, New Mexico. He grew up in the impoverished community and his mother was raised on the reservation. His family found faith and hope in Christ and that’s what he now shares with this forgotten people. Pray for Joshua as he builds relationships and shares the gospel with students and their families.

As missionaries Bobby and LaKeisha Williams look around their city of New Orleans, they see a community stuck in survival mode. There are still buildings boarded up and abandoned years after Hurricane Katrina and, more recently, the city was considered an epicenter during the pandemic and multiple hurricanes. But Bobby and LaKeisha are offering their neighbors more than just survival – they want to offer hope. Pray that as they lead their church to meet tangible needs, the community will see the love Christ has for them.

God used missionary Jacob Zaillian’s own experience with drugs to give him a heart for those on the margins of society. In 2019, he and his wife, Francine, planted a church to take the gospel to the homeless, drug addicts and gang members of Sanger, California. Pray today for God to use the Zaillians to radically change lives as they reflect the love of Christ to their community.
